Lansdowne, Uttarakhand
Lansdowne is a charming little hill town in the Pauri district of Uttarakhand, situated 250 km from Delhi. This hill station, filled with oak and pine forest & dotted with colonial-era homes, is a sanctuary for NCR bird watchers, casual hikers & weekenders. Lansdowne, in Pauri Garhwal district, is a cantonment town.
The town was explored by the British and got its name from Lord Lansdowne, the then Viceroy of India (1888-1894). The guesthouses here are fading reminiscences of the colonial era, and from their balconies, they give a spectacular view of the hill peaks.
